Unlike generators, Tripp Lite's RV PowerVerters require no routine maintenance. These inverter/chargers are also smaller and lighter than generators, making them easier to transport and store.

They generate no toxic fumes, use no flammable fuels and make less noise than generators, so they are better suited for environments where generators would be hazardous and inconvenient. RV PowerVerters deliver reliable power with few voltage or frequency variations, making these systems safer than generators for powering sensitive equipment such as computers.

Furthermore, RV PowerVerters' automatic load switching ensures constant power during power outages, whereas generators generally require a startup time. Automatic load switching enables a RV PowerVerter to serve as an extended-run UPS, a standalone power source or an automotive inverter. RV PowerVerters provide AC power to equipment while utility power is available and charge an array of user-supplied DC batteries at the same time.

RV PowerVerters include a powerful, technologically advanced 3-stage battery charger that recharges connected batteries faster and also protects against over-charge and over-discharge to ensure a longer service life from batteries. This powerful charger supports any number of user-supplied batteries, enabling virtually unlimited runtime. When AC power is not available, such as during a blackout or when a vehicle equipped with an RV PowerVerter is on the road, the inverter/charger quickly and automatically switches to providing connected equipment with frequency controlled AC power drawn from attached batteries. Sophisticated electronic circuitry delivers extended peak inverter AC power (double regular wattage output for extended times, depending on load) to start and run heavy draw devices. Automatic overload protection protects the system from damage due to excessive loads. High-efficiency output is frequency controlled to support sensitive loads such as computers.
